Siesta Key, Sarasota

Siesta key is a lovely island on the west coast of Florida, just West of Sarasota, on the Gulf of Mexico. It is joined to the mainland by two bridges. By car approximately an hour and a half south of Tampa, and two hours from Orlando International Airport. Disney is also about two hours away.

Siesta Village is a cosmopolitan area of restaurants, bars, ice cream parlous, stores and boutiques and gift shops ideal for browsing or eating day or evening.

Siesta beach is a large expanse of power white sand. There are public tennis courts. At the South end of the island you will find the Crescent and Turtle beaches. And there are shops and restaurants at this end of the island also.

You can play tennis, jet ski, parasail and fish. Bike hire is a very good way of getting around and exploring the island. Or just relax, sunbathe and swim in the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico.

When you have had enough of all that its just a short drive back onto the mainland for the large supermarkets, and Sarasota Square Mall with all the chain stores, shops and a cinema.
